With just one day to rest and catch up on happenings at home, it was pretty much a quick unpack, wash, and repack for Ryan, Jess and Roo ready for an early start for the 6.5 hour journey to Melbourne Airport. Mr Roo had elected not to come on this journey so he held the fort at home whilst Roo, Jess and Ryan set off down the Calder Highway for Melbourne. One of the drawbacks of living in a regional town like Mildura is that whilst we have a regional airport, the most expensive part of flights to popular destinations is the leg between Mildura and Melbourne, so we opted to drive this leg. |
After the 7 hour drive (usually 6 hours) due to many roadworks, we arrived at Melbourne Airport with ample time to spare and checked in. As we were walking though the airport terminal, Jess made the comment "It feels like we were only here yesterday!" Well it was actually true, for we were here, only it was the day before yesterday!
We had no issue with checking in, nor any sign of aerosinusitis on the flight from Melbourne to the Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta, QLD. We arrived there after dark and gradually made our way to our accommodation at Pacific View Apartments, via public bus and tram. We zipped out in the dark for a quick tea and were really pleased to find all shops and restaurants within an easy walking distance from our digs. A great start to our next mini adventure!
