After our coolest overnight since the early days of our trip we ventured out after a late start to check out some of the local sights. Carnarvon is a regional centre that is positioned half way between the two World Heritage areas, Shark Bay to the south and the Ningaloo Reef area to the north. Our first stop was to Babbage Island to view the Mile Long Jetty. The Jetty was built in 1897 and included a tramway that was used in the early 1900's to transport goods to the town centre. Unfortunately the jetty closed to the public during 2017 due to safety reasons so we were not able to walk it. We also visited the Space and Technology Museum which |
The afternoon was spent relaxing around town checking out the shops and the historic buildings around town.
