After a very hectic 2017 Festive Season and an even busier New Year (which did include 2 short Caravan Trips (Click here to see the entries under the Blog tab) we finally were able to organise ourselves to get 'on the road' on the first part of our 2018 Australian Adventures! As we had already been on a couple of recent adventures:- one to Adelaide, South Australia and one to Portland, Victoria, we had found that it was a great way to refresh and prepare our Van, (and ourselves!) in readiness for the bigger trips of this coming year. Despite being organised with most of the preparations, this morning saw us very busy with the tying up of some loose day to day ends that needed to be wrapped up before we left. |
We turned off and headed down through St Arnaud through to our first destination for a couple of nights, Ballarat, Victoria.
Ballarat is a large regional city well known for it's discovery of gold back in the 1850's and is also known for the Eureka Rebellion and is interpreted by some to be the origin of democracy in Australia. More about that in tomorrows blog entry!
After setting up camp, and having dinner, we took a drive into town just before dark to familiarise ourselves with the layout of the town as it had been many, many years since we had been here previously. Overall a great start to our trip!
